Are you clear about your employment law responsibilities?

Employment Law

Introduction

The legal requirements for employing a person change frequently – so whether you employ just one part-time assistant, or have a workforce running into the hundreds, it's vital that you know what your responsibilities are as an employer.

Services provided

ilisi offers a range of services likely to be of use in particular to smaller businesses without a dedicated human resources department or to larger concerns that wish to supplement their existing in-house HR facility with external advice. These fall essentially into two broad categories: document preparation and legal advice.

Although often overlooked, document preparation is vital for ensuring full compliance with all the requirements of employment law.  All forms and documents must be legally robust, so as not to leave a business open to legal challenge from an employee (or even an applicant for a job) while at the same time being fit-for-purpose.

The types of document that we are experienced in producing include:

  • Written Particulars of Employment/Contracts
  • Staff Handbooks
  • Job Descriptions
  • Job advertisements
  • Application Forms
  • Health surveillance

Self-evidently, it is more difficult to describe the legal advice that ilisi can provide, since it will reflect the needs of the client at any particular time.  However, we can, for example, provide an appropriately qualified and authoritative legal opinion on contractual matters if a dispute arises; or if one party (employer or employee) wishes to amend an existing contract, terms or conditions.

While all our services (including advice) are available on an ad hoc basis, we also offer comprehensive packages.  Employment Law starter packs (designed for small-to-medium enterprises) are available, and our retained clients also have the option of access to a 24-hour legal support line.
